I SAID YES TO JESUS
First, if you said “YES” to Jesus, we want to welcome you to the family of God and this New Life. We would love to hear about your decision to give your life to Jesus and follow Him.
If you are still deciding what to do, here is some information to ponder.
WHAT IS THE CHRISTIAN FAITH ALL ABOUT ANYWAY?
Salvation is not about trying harder, doing more good deeds, or somehow becoming worthy enough for God’s acceptance. It begins when we turn away from sin, place our trust in Jesus Christ, and embrace the sacrifice He made for us on the cross more than 2,000 years ago. It is not simply about escaping judgment. It is about entering into a life-changing relationship with the Creator of the universe and walking with Him every day.
Following Jesus is far more than a one-time decision. Many people experience a spiritual awakening but never continue the journey God intends for them. True faith is not treating salvation like a ticket to Heaven that we store away for later. It is a daily commitment to know Christ, love Him, trust Him, and follow His leading in every area of life. Jesus calls us to walk with Him not only on Sundays, but every day of the week.
Too often, we compare ourselves to others and conclude that we are “good enough.” We may say, “I’m better than most people,” or “I’ve never done anything really terrible.” Yet God’s standard is not measured against other people. The standard is Jesus Christ Himself. He alone lived a perfect, sinless life. When we compare ourselves to His perfection, we quickly realize that we all fall short. The Bible calls this sin. The good news is that where we fail, God’s grace steps in. Through faith in Jesus, we receive forgiveness, new life, and the power to become all that God created us to be.
So what are we to do? For starters, please watch this video and see what we can learn.
The team at Living Waters has done an incredible job of presenting the Gospel in a way that is both clear and easy to understand. So, what can we take away from this powerful message?
First, every one of us has broken God’s moral law, revealed through the Ten Commandments. No one can honestly say they have met God’s perfect standard.
Second, because of our sin, we owe a debt we cannot pay. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death, which is eternal separation from God. No amount of good works can erase our guilt or satisfy the demands of divine justice.
Third, this is where the good news shines brightest. Jesus Christ took our place and paid our debt in full on the cross. Because God is both loving and just, He can forgive us without compromising His righteousness. We were guilty, yet Jesus bore the penalty we deserved so that we could be set free and restored to a relationship with God.
One of the most powerful illustrations is that of a parachute. Imagine two groups of people jumping from an airplane.
The first group desperately tries to save themselves by flapping their arms. They are relying on their own strength, their own goodness, and their own efforts. No matter how sincere they are, they cannot save themselves.
The second group puts on a parachute and trusts it completely. They do not depend on their own ability. From the moment they jump until they safely reach the ground, their confidence rests entirely in the parachute.
In the same way, many people trust in their good works, morality, or religious activities to save them. But salvation is not found in what we can do for God. It is found in trusting completely in what Jesus has already done for us. We must put on Christ, place our faith in Him alone, and keep trusting Him throughout our lives.
The question each of us must answer is simple but life-changing:
Are we trusting in ourselves, or are we fully trusting in Jesus Christ? The difference is the difference between falling on our own strength and resting securely in the One who saves.
SO WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT OUR “SIN PROBLEM”?
The solution is as simple as A, B and C.
- A is for Admit – Admit that we are sinners to God and Repent of our sins. Saying sorry is not good enough. We need to turn away from willingly committing sin. We cannot walk with God and continue to hold hands with the devil.
- B is for Believe – We need to believe that Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, that He rose from the dead on the third day, and is now seated in Heaven as the Son of God. Belief is more than mental assent. Belief must turn into trust. Each day we trust in what Jesus did for us and live accordingly.
- C is for Confess – We confess Jesus as not only our Saviour but our Lord. We must remember that we are not buying fire insurance. We are entering into a relationship where we know God and God knows us.
Our salvation rests entirely on Jesus Christ and the finished work He accomplished on the cross. We cannot earn it, deserve it, or add to it. Once we have responded to God’s invitation through faith and repentance, the next step in our journey is baptism.
In the Book of Acts, Peter boldly proclaimed, “Repent and be baptized” (Acts 2), calling believers to publicly identify with Christ and the new life He offers. Baptism is a beautiful expression of faith that symbolizes our participation in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. As we go into the water, we declare that our old life has passed away. As we rise from the water, we celebrate the new life we have received in Him.
Baptism itself does not save us. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Repentance comes first, followed by baptism as an act of loving obedience and public testimony. Baptism is not a substitute for faith, but a response to it. It is an outward declaration of an inward transformation.
When we choose to be baptized, we are taking a bold step of faith. We are telling the world that we belong to Jesus, that His grace has changed our lives, and that we are committed to following Him. Baptism celebrates what God has already done and testifies to the new life that begins when we trust in Christ.
SO WHAT’S IN IT FOR US?
Salvation is not the end of our journey with God. It begins a life-changing relationship with Him through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. From the moment we place our faith in Christ, we are invited into a daily walk with God, one that transforms our hearts, renews our minds, and draws us closer to His purpose for our lives.
Christianity is not about becoming religious or measuring our spirituality by a list of rules and regulations. Jesus did not come to create rule followers. He came to make disciples, people who know Him, love Him, trust Him, and follow Him wholeheartedly. Our faith is not built on a series of “dos and don’ts,” but on a growing relationship with the One who gave His life for us.
So what is the reward of walking with Christ? It is the privilege of experiencing God’s presence every day. It is knowing that we are never alone, no matter what challenges we face. Following Jesus does not guarantee an easy life, unlimited wealth, or freedom from hardship. What it does promise is something far greater: the constant companionship, guidance, comfort, and strength of God’s Holy Spirit.
As we walk with Him day by day, we discover a peace that circumstances cannot shake, a hope that endures through every season, and a love that never fails. The greatest gift of the Christian life is not what God gives us, but that we get to know Him personally and walk with Him every step of the way.
